Breski Beverage’s Tom Mehaffie III new president of MBDA

Thomas L. Mehaffie III, a Dauphin County beer distributor and president of the Lower Swatara Township board of commissioners, has been elected president of the Malt Beverage Distributors Association.  Mehaffie replaces Mark Tanczos, a distributor from Northampton County, who will continue to serve on the board.

“Mark has done a great job leading this organization through its three most difficult years,” Mehaffie said, “and I am thrilled that he is going to continue to actively serve as a member of our executive committee.”

The state’s 1,200 beer distributors are private, small, family-owned and operated independent businesses which are licensed to sell beer for off-premises consumption by the state.   “We face greater competition in the market plus serious political challenges, but our family-owned distributors are still the retailers that offer consumers both the best price and the largest selection,” Mehaffie said.

Mehaffie purchased Breski Beverage, 1170 Eisenhower Blvd, twenty years ago. He has grown his business significantly and increased the number of employees.  Other officers of the organization, which represents licensed beer distributors throughout Pennsylvania, are Frank Pistella, (Pistella Beverage, Pittsburgh) first vice president; Matthew Viens, (Keller’s Beer, Selinsgrove) second vice president; Jim Goldinger, (Beer Zone, Lyndora) third vice president; LeAnn Supeck, (Wheatland Distributors, Lancaster) secretary; and Paul Farthing, (Chal-Brit Beverage, Chalfont) treasurer.
