Frank Pistella, president of the Malt Beverage Distributor’s Association, has issued the following statement regarding final passage of HB 1196:
“On behalf of Pennsylvania’s retail beer distributors we thank the General Assembly for giving us the opportunity to grow and become a stronger buying experience for those who purchase malt or brewed beverages. We believe that today in every local marketplace in Pennsylvania we offer the best selections, prices and service.
“This new law will enable consumers to speak directly to us – as they do now to both our owners and employees every day – and along with other buyers take control of the buying experience.
“Other outlets such as gas stations, convenience stores, grocery stores and restaurants have never been able to match the number of choices that we are able to give consumers nor the level of service. They offer access and specials while we compete and offer consistently fair and low prices.
“We thank the General Assembly on behalf of consumers who choose to purchase our products. On behalf of our families and employees, we accept the challenge of improving the customer’s beer buying experience here in Pennsylvania.
“The Malt Beverage Distributors Association supports and advances the goals and welfare of PA beer distributors and their consumers.”
